Please tell us about yourself
I'm a member of the Trade Service Department. I joined the company two weeks ago. Since I've just joined the company, there are many things to learn but I'd really like to master everything and work really hard! I want to serve our customers by always responding rapidly to ensure their trade goes smoothly.
What kind of work are you typically responsible for?
I'm still in training but let me give you an example of what I do.
One of our customers, Ajinomoto Frozen Foods, has a factory in Thailand and we receive orders for various types of product. Usually it's for raw materials but for dry products, which are difficult to procure locally, we select the best materials from manufacturers in Japan, consolidate them into a container, and ship it out to the customer.
You joined the Company two weeks ago?
What were you doing prior to that?
I was in the distribution industry working for a forwarder for about five years. We would consolidate customer's freight into containers and ship them overseas.
What made you think about joining a trading company?
I studied English in school and I wanted to make use of that in my work.
What was the reason you decided to change careers
and join this company?
Since I'd been doing the same job the entire time, I wanted to challenge myself with new things. I'm 28 years old now and I thought it best to switch careers while in my 20s, so I made the leap. I choose this company because I could leverage my previous work experience and because the working environment was better than that in other companies.
What is your impression of this job compared to
your previous employer?

My previous job was about simply transporting goods and getting paid for it. As a trading company, we "trade" and "ship" as an integrated service.
"Trade" is the biggest difference between this job and my previous one. Now I'm also learning about the flow of money and business processes.
What about yourself are you confident of?
I'm confident that I understand the actual mechanics of shipping from a practical perspective since I know how freight is packaged for shipping and have actually been to the ports.
Going forward, how do you want to approach your work?
My motto is, "be quick on your feet and immediately take action."
I basically like working on the front lines and really want to do external sales. But first I need to learn the fundamentals of being a trading company man.
What does "OYAKUDACHI (Valuable and useful service)" mean to you?

Since I've just joined the company, I would like to be the new person that brings a fresh breeze inside and outside the company. Since I'm not steeped in the company's customs yet, I can approach my work questioning everything. If I notice something, I want to have my own ideas and be assertive in expressing them. I would be really happy if that resulted in "OYAKUDACHI (Valuable and useful service)" supports our customers.
